OMG dude you HAVE to try Relic Race: Temple Gauntlet. I literally just finished playing and it's 11 PM and I can't sleep now, my brain is still buzzing from it.
So, you know how [person who told me about it, e.g., Sarah] told me it was just like, "control your character, avoid giant spheres and traps, collect gold for skins, endless gameplay"? Like, yeah, technically that's *what you do*, but it's like describing pizza as "bread with toppings." Like, sure, but that totally misses the point of what makes pizza *pizza*, you know?
This game is SO much more than that. The first time I played, I just ran and got crushed by a huge boulder like, immediately. I was like, "Ugh, another one of these." But then I noticed this tiny, glowing symbol on the wall, and I was like, "Wait, what was that?" So I tried again, and this time, instead of just running, I slowed down a tiny bit, and when I touched that symbol, it like, *changed* the path ahead. Instead of a dead end, a whole new section opened up, with these cool, ancient-looking gears turning.
That's the thing. It's not just about dodging. It's like, a *puzzle* game disguised as an action game. You're not just avoiding traps, your figuring out the *temple's rhythm*. Like, there's this one part where you have to hit three specific pressure plates in a certain order, and if you get it right, this amazing, deep chime sound plays, and a whole section of the floor slides away revealing a secret passage with like, double the gold. I totally gasped the first time that happened. It's so clever!
I don't usually like endless runners, they get boring fast. But this one, your constantly learning, your constantly discovering new ways to mess with the temple itself. It's like Indiana Jones meets a really smart escape room, but you're running for your life. I totally lost track of time, I looked at the clock and it was almost 2 AM, thought it was still like 11:30. My character, Dr. Finch, is so cool too, he makes these little "oof" noises when he barely dodges a swinging axe, it's hilarious. I already told Mark from work he needs to download it. Honestly, you gotta try it. It's really, really good.
